The OMD is an online marijuana dispensary based in Ottawa, ON. They started out in 2015 as a medical marijuana dispensary with a storefront location. Today, the OMD is a full-service Canadian cannabis online shop. They offer a wide variety of cannabis products backed by a team of experts.
WebMarketers were brought in when they were looking to reach out and establish a loyal customer base. Since this industry was still highly regulated on social media platforms, they were running into the issue of maintaining social accounts without them getting shut down.
In a highly regulated and saturated industry, our team focused on safe organic marketing channels such as SEO, content marketing, and email marketing. We also implemented quarterly planning meetings to ensure our multi-channel marketing efforts worked in tandem to achieve growth for the OMD.
As we worked on growing their organic traffic, we knew there was an opportunity to improve their branding with a redesign of their website.
Our web design team got started on this re-design keeping two important things in mind; it needed to push the sale of products, and it needed to establish them as a trusted brand.
OMD originally stood for “original men’s department” and had a barbershop feel to the storefront and brand. In our designs, we focused on matching their website to their brand and making the layout more product focused. We also designed email and social media post templates to ensure their brand was present across all their marketing channels.
As the OMD focused on selling their products online across Canada, we set up a fully operational WooCommerce shop that would make it easy for customers to buy products and for the OMD to keep track of orders and fulfill them in a timely manner. We also pioneered a more user-friendly age gate pop-up to improve site engagement.
