WebMarketers couldn’t be happier to report on the outstanding success of the inaugural Ottawa Corporate Cup, which brought together local businesses and nonprofit organizations for a day of competitive golf and philanthropic giving. The esteemed Loch March Golf & Country Club hosted a remarkable day on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, when 18 companies displayed their golfing talent in support of nine worthy Ottawa organizations.
A little bit about the Ottawa Corporate Cup
The Ottawa Corporate Cup is a yearly charity golf competition that offers businesses the chance to compete and display their golfing prowess while also benefiting a number of local charities through the Ottawa Community Foundation. Four-person teams made up of board members, staff, charity members, and business owners participate in the competition.
Every company that takes part fields a four-person team and selects a charity to sponsor. The teams compete in a 2-man scramble format, with the team score being the sum of the twosomes’ individual scores.
Fundraising with Purpose
In its first year, The Ottawa Corporate Cup raised an incredible $36,000 for nine local charities in addition to challenging the golfing prowess of several local businesses. The funds raised were distributed as follows:
Donation of $18,000 to the winning team’s charity
Donation of $12,000 to the charity of the second-place team
Donation of $6,000 to the charity of the third-place team.
A minimum $2,000 gift to each participating team
WebMarketers Golfing in Support of Athletes Combatting Racism
WebMarketers had their own stake in the day of lighthearted competition in support of Athletes Combatting Racism.
Our CEO, Kyle Smendzuik, and our VP of Sales, Owen Werthner, contributed greatly to organizing the event and also represented WebMarketers on the golf course. Phantom Productions provided top-notch photography and videography to capture the event in stunning detail. We look forward to more opportunities like the Ottawa Corporate Cup to do good work in our community.
